Hebrews 12:1-2 – Turn your eyes upon Jesus

When I read the lectionary reading from Hebrews 12 today, it immediately made me think of this wonderful hymn that we use to sing quite a bit in my former communities.  The camera work on the version I’ve chosen is pretty bad, but the young man has a beautiful voice.  Perhaps it will give you something to meditate on with your eyes closed for a few minutes this morning as you reflect on Hebrews:

Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us
and persevere in running the race that lies before us
while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus,
the leader and perfecter of faith.
