Water, water, everywhere

In the lectionary readings today, there is a lot of talk about water.

  1. Noah escapes flood waters on the ark in the first reading
  2. “The voice of the Lord is over the waters” and “The Lord is enthroned above the flood” in the responsorial
  3. The disciples misunderstand Jesus on a boat in the gospel reading

I’m not sure if there is some thread that ties the three together.  The connection between the first two is easy enough to see, but the third seems to break the mold a bit.  Give them a read and see what you think.
